Durand Attic ADU

Client's Goals:

This ADU was created as a private, fully self-contained living space for the client’s aging parent. Since the entrance is shared with the main house, we wanted to make sure the ADU maintained a discreet entry for privacy. To do that, we hid the entrance behind a Murphy door, cleverly disguised as a custom bookshelf. Inside, the ADU has everything needed for independent living, including its own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living space.

Points of Interest:

• The hidden entry, behind a custom bookshelf, provides privacy while blending seamlessly into the home’s design. It’s a smart and stylish way to maintain discretion.
• The ADU includes a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living area; everything your parent could need to live independently while still being close by.
• We designed this ADU to offer both privacy and independence, creating a space where the parent can enjoy their own living area, all while staying close to family.
