Clients Goals:

This ADU was built as an addition on the existing home to move in an aging parent, and in the future to be a space for their adult child.

Points of Interest:

  • The ADU has dual access with two entry points; one through the main house and another separate patio door accessible through the backyard. This gives the family flexibility and ensures the ADU can be used independently.
  • A small mudroom and hallway separate the ADU from the main house, providing an added layer of privacy and making sure the two living areas feel distinct.
  • Inside the fully equipped ADU, the parent (or future resident) enjoys all the amenities of a private home, with their own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and laundry facilities.
  • Instead of trying to match the existing brick on the house, we chose siding that complemented the brick’s color, giving the addition a harmonious yet distinct look. This way, the new and old sections blend beautifully without showing where the two meet.
